This topic makes me a little emotional. It has always been a passion of mine to mentor young people and help them build their confidence so they can be successful and happy. Our office in Oxnard, Ca. employs anywhere from 8-16 reps at any given time and I am not kidding when I tell you that every single rep we have ever had always tells me this is the most positive and uplifting place they have ever worked. We start our day off with a morning gratitude meeting and it sets the tone for the day. It is all of 15 minutes and it has made a shift in our company. Most of us spend more of our waking hours at work than we do at home – so doesn’t it make sense to find joy and happiness no matter what? At Alert Trainers we believe that each of us need to do our part to contribute to a positive environment. Here are 5 principles that we practice on a daily basis. Try them on your own or with your office! 1. Give People the Benefit of the Doubt. (Don’t read too deep into their actions) 2. Practice Generosity (don’t wait for someone else to share, be the first!) 3. Speak Well of Others (if you don’t have anything nice to say then shut up!) 4. Find the Good (wear your rose colored glasses) 5. Show Appreciation (say thank you and give people honest compliments) And as a leader I make sure that I recognize my team for all of the good they are doing. When people are recognized for the good they do, they are happier more productive employees. They are also more open and willing to hear and learn when they have made a mistake or missed an opportunity to be more successful. When you follow these best practices you will notice a positive shift in your environment both at work and at home. D.
